Ex-Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips joins the Lexington ownership group

The Lexington Legends, a member of the South Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, announced Tuesday that former Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips has joined the team’s ownership group.

“Everyone knows Brandon for his all-star games, gold gloves and passion on the field,” said Andy Shea, President and CEO of Legends, in a press release. “What some people may not know is that Brandon is also an amazing dad who lives with a family attitude and has an incredible baseball and business network. All of this fits in perfectly with the Lexington Legends.”

“I am very honored to have this opportunity to become a partner in Lexington Legends,” said Phillips in the press release. “I have so much to give to this game. Last year working with Andy taught me how to run a business and that became one of my goals. I know what it takes to win and it’s a blessing to be able to build my portfolio outside of the field. I love this city of Lexington and the people in the tri-state community. “

Phillips played 11 seasons with the Reds, racking up 1,774 hits, 191 home runs and 194 stolen bases, as well as three all-star game appearances and four Gold Gloves. He last played for the Boston Red Sox in 2018 and appeared in nine games.
