OHIO – The fifth and final set of the Vax-a-Million winners will be announced Wednesday night around 7:29 p.m.
Last week, Suzanne Ward of Findlay won the $ 1 million award and Sean Horning of Cincinnati received a full scholarship.
The lottery is a government attempt to increase vaccination rates. As of Tuesday, more than 47% of the state’s population had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 43% were fully vaccinated, according to the state.
During the week, residents were able to take part in the lottery for the first time; between May 18 and 24, more than 168,000 first cans were distributed. In the following week, a total of 60,800 first doses were administered.
More than 39,000 initial jabs were issued in the past week.
Ohio is ranked No. 7 in the nation for total administered doses, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More than 3.4 million Ohioans ages 18 and up entered the $ 1 million prize draw last week, and more than 150,000 residents ages 12 to 17 entered the full scholarship.
