Mica, a 10-year-old mixed breed, has lived at the League for Animal Welfare shelter near Cincinnati for nearly seven years. It was well over 2,300 days ago.
Mica came to the shelter on November 30, 2014.
He was treated badly as a puppy and remains wary of people he doesn’t know. For this reason the League for Animal Welfare is looking for a very specific type of home for him.
It needs to be adult only and may have a different dog, but a meet and greet is required first. His adopter needs to be patient, learn to listen to Mica, and “be more interested in helping Mica than what a dog can do for it”.
Animal Welfare League officials say they asked about mica from near and far – Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Indiana, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Idaho, California, and even Hawaii.

However, since Mica had some difficulties, they want the adoptor to live within two hours of the shelter.
Mica is a mix of German Shorthair Pointer and Labrador Retriever. Shelter officials say he just needs some compassion.
“He needs someone who understands that he has good days and bad. and sometimes on those bad days, even if he loves you and trusts you, all he needs is alone time, ”they write.
You can find more information about Mica in his adoption profile here.
