  • WGU Ohio supplies teacher recognition kits across Ohio
  • A total of 2,000 kits will be shipped
  • The kits contain dry-erase markers, sticky notes, magnets, glass jars, and books

WGU Chancellor Dr. KL Allen said Teacher Recognition Day is important as teachers play a role in the development and upbringing of children.

“This has been an unprecedented year,” said Allen. “The teachers are already doing a very, very challenging job. COVID made it harder. So this year we wanted to offer some teacher appreciation kits to increase morale and show our appreciation. “

The kits are filled with everyday items such as dry-erase markers, sticky notes, magnets, glass jars, and books.

Tonya McCall, Chief Talent Officer of Mason City Schools, said these kits were great to receive as they would help make teachers feel special at Mason.

“Just to be able to give, even if it’s a small token of appreciation, we love to do so and to honor her in a special way,” said McCall.

The WGU’s 2,000 kits are distributed across the country. In addition, the WGU is offering a $ 4,000 scholarship to aspiring teachers to help make the dream of teaching more accessible.

Allen said anyone can make a teacher feel valued by writing a simple thank you letter or email.

“It is very important that we show that we all love teachers and value all teachers,” he said. “We really appreciate everything you do.”

Further information on the scholarship program can be found on the WGU website.
